Finding the best, or the top gourmet coffee, is something many of us strive to find. The thing is, it is truly in the “cup” of the beholder! It is very subjective and depends on what you love to drink. So, the question is what is your top gourmet coffee?

Some people prefer light roasts, such as a blond or cinnamon roast, with notes that are not soft and subtle and easy to sip on any time of day. Think of a coffee that goes from day to night with ease. Other people, like myself, prefer a heavier roast with robust and intense notes. Therefore, finding the “top gourmet coffee” is truly up to your very own palate!

When thinking about top gourmet coffee some of the most expensive coffees come to mind, such as Kona Coffee, Kopi Luwak & Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. These are considered some of the top coffees because they are grown in small regions, a longer process to cultivate and more rare than most coffees. The more rare, the more expensive.

Personally, my top gourmet coffee is whatever is hot and fresh, and in my cup in the morning!

When thinking of the “best gourmet coffee” it is important to think about what type of coffee you most enjoy. The term “best gourmet coffee” is quite subjective and up for a lot of debate!

One thing is for sure though — we can easily talk about the most expensive gourmet coffee. The most expensive, and therefore considered the best gourmet coffee by many coffee lovers and purveyors, is the Kopi Luwak coffee. If you have not heard of Kopi Luwak, it is quite an interesting coffee to harvest!

Kopi Luwak is made from beans of coffee berries, which have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet and passed through its digestive tract. Yes, the Civet, which is a rodent type animal, eats the coffee and then poops it out for your divine drinking pleasure. Although, it eats the beans they are passed through the digestive tract whole, so they can easily be harvested from the feces.

The Civet eats all types of beans: Arabica, Robusta, Liberica and Excelsa. After the beans have been passed by the animal, they are washed, dried in the sun, light roasted and then brewed which apparently produce a coffee with much less bitterness and amazing taste! This was recently showcased on the Oprah show, where she tried Kopi Luwak coffee for the first time on air. Unfortunately, I missed the episode, but I am so curious to find out what she thought!

So I may have not covered the “best gourmet coffee” per se, but it just goes to show, you never know where your next great cup of coffee will come from!

“Bean Coffee Gourmet” is a readily searched term referring to delicious gourmet coffee beans. As a dire hard coffee lover, I have often searched this to see what the new coffee buzz is. I love to try new types of coffee and different blends from different regions. This is a great way to ride the coffee waves!

Some very popular gourmet coffee beans come from places like Ethiopia, Hawaii, Jamaica and Guatemala. The climates and weather conditions in these areas produce some of the most coveted gourmet coffee beans in the world. Many of the coffee beans are so delicious, people choose to cover them with chocolate and eat them as perfect pick me ups in the morning (myself included).

As there are so many types of gourmet coffee beans, choosing a favorite one can be quite tough. Personally, I love Kona coffee and revel in a cup every now and then as a special treat! Do you have a favorite coffee? Leave a comment letting us know!

There is nothing finer than a cup of gourmet coffee. For some people this is a daily necessity, while others reserve gourmet coffee for special occasions only. I believe, with so many affordable options on the market today, gourmet coffee is appropriate for all coffee-related occasions!

Personally, I cannot imagine a day with out gourmet coffee. I like to drink a medium or dark roast in the morning, and a light cinnamon roast in the afternoon or for after dinner drinking. The great thing about gourmet coffee is the variety to choose from! The first step is deciding what roast you prefer: light, medium or dark. After that task it is important to decide if you prefer a specific region.

Personally, I love Kona coffee or Jamaican Blue Mountain. Both of these coffees are grown in lush, tropical environments and offer exquisite notes on the palate. They have rich notes that are deep in flavor and offer the perfect amount of body!

Kona Coffee hails from the coast of Kona Hawaii. It is grown in a beautiful tropical environment and is known for a delicious taste and wonderful aromas!

Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is grown in a tropical environment as well. The Blue Mountain range of Jamaica is perfect with the sunny days, misty afternoons, and perfect soil temperatures. The resulting coffee is rich and delicious, and known to be some of the best in the world.

When someone says “what is the best gourmet coffee company?” that is a tough nut to crack! For so many people it is just a matter of personal preference. It all depends on what region of coffee you prefer, if you prefer a blend or not, and what roast is your favorite. Some of the most popular gourmet coffee brands include:

Dean & Deluca

Martinez Fine Coffees

Leroy Hill Coffee

Gevalia

Sanani Coffee

Seattle’s Best Gourmet Coffee

Capella Coffee

And these are just the tip of the iceberg! Personally, I love a nice medium blend with a bit of flavor to it such as Obisidan Gourmet Coffee. Gourmet coffee is such a huge industry, there is virtually something for everyone to try and love. Even my husband, who is not a coffee drinker per se, has found enjoyment experimenting with different gourmet coffees!

How can one define what is the best gourmet coffee when so much of the enjoyment is part of your personal tastes? Well, that may be true, but certain varieties of coffee are still generally accepted as being higher quality and finer tasting than others. And you can usually tell these coffees by their price tags.

Most coffee fanatics would agree that some of the very best gourmet coffee comes from the Jamaican Blue Mountain region. It’s one of those unique places in the world that has exactly the right climate and growing season for producing amazing coffee. You can expect to pay anywhere from $40 to $100 for a pound of roasted Blue Mountain coffee beans. The taste is smooth and clean.

The second coffee region that has top-notch coffee beans would be in the Kona district of Hawaii. Coffee grown along the slopes of Mount Hualalai or Mauna Loa are considered to be true Kona coffees, and should not be confused with any other Hawaiian coffee regions. Kona is a bit spicier than Blue Mountain, but without a hint of bitterness.

These are just two of the best locations for coffee, but not the only ones. Excellent gourmet coffee also comes from many areas of Kenya, Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Indonesia.

When looking for the best gourmet coffee, check the labels or descriptions on the website. It should say that the coffee is 100% beans from that region. A Kona blend does not mean a mix of Kona beans, but rather a mix of cheaper beans and a small percentage of true Kona coffee.

Large urban supermarkets may carry beans from these high-end regions, but you may have to search a bit more to find them. Gourmet food shops, or coffee houses might also be able to help you. And there is always the Internet for finding online sources that can deliver right to your door.
